However, it should be noted that Weak Acid Cation Exchange Resins are mainly used to soften water, while Strong Acid Cation Exchange Resins are more common in industrial water treatment. When the pH value of raw water is below 6.0, it is recommended to use strong acid exchange resin. Features of weak acid cation exchange resin: (compared with strong acid resin)
1: When separating multivalent cations (such as iron ions), weakly acidic resins are more effective than strongly acidic resins.
2: Weakly acidic resins are easier to regenerate than strongly acidic resins. They generally require less aggressive regenerates and can often be regenerated at a relatively small cost using common chemicals such as sodium chloride or sodium hydroxide.
3: When the pH value of raw water is 6-7.5, weak acid resin is more practical than strong acid resin.
4: Weakly acidic resins are more commonly used in the field of water softening than strongly acidic resins.
